MojoPac1.0.5.0: Carry Whole your Laptop and Desktop PC Only in your Portable Storage Device!

Nowadays laptop computers are very popular among business people and ordinary users. Although Laptop brings lots of facilities for users, the matter of laptop theft has become a big and frightening trouble for every laptop users (and more for enterprises). You may say that now security utilities have brought more calm for users but I have to decline your idea. If we look at laptop news, everyday we can get a lot of news about laptop theft or data theft from important enterprises and organization. Security utilities have improved so much but they are expensive and yet they are in the primary stage.

But what do you think about carrying your all applications, files, games ( like war craft) in your iPod or USB external hard drive like Seagate, Western Digital, and Hitachi or Top-tier USB Flash drives like Memorex, Sandisk, OCZ and Lexar. Then, using them in another computer (in office or friend’s,…) without worrying about security (losing your file or staying your file on the computer host unwillingly) or worrying if that host computer has the software for running your data or not ?

It sounds great, isn’t it?

MojoPac is a small software program (9.5 MB) that can bring this great facility for professionals, students, gamers, everyone and even parents. RingCube Technologies’s MojoPac makes a virtual Windows XP from any USB2 removable device such as a flash drive or iPod. So, now you can keep all the applications and files in the portable storage device like your personal computer. Then without reinstalling any software, you can plug in your USB portable storage device to the different or host computer with Windows XP and run the applications there completely. After finishing your work you can unplug the storage device while there are no traces left behind on the computer. Full security! Don’t you agree with me?

The impressive part of MojoPac is that (except the things I mentioned above) you cannot access the host PC's disks while you are in MojoPac space, but while you're in the host PC you can write to your MojoPac drive easily.

The advantages of MojoPac:

-It helps professionals to carry their applications and files from office to home and vise versa in a small portable storage device which can stay in your coat pocket or in bag without others know about it. Laptops are portable but they are some heavy and their size announces everyone that there is a laptop. With MojoPac, business people are able to access their personal versions of Outlook, PowerPoint, and Yahoo Messenger by plugging in their portable storage device to any PC anywhere in the world.

- there is no limitation about language of your host computer, means that if you work with English, still you can plug your MojoPac enabled device to for example Chinese computer and yet have your English environment.

- If you are a parent, you save your PC from your children without banning them from using it. Using a MojoPac-enabled device each child can have his or her instantly personalized client experience on your PC without altering a single setting or file.

- If you are a Gamer, you can install any game on your PC or online games listed below onto the MojoPac-enabled device. Simply plug in your device to the USB port of any PC. Now, you're ready to play instantly and at full performance. You will not need to install that game in the new PC again and even you do not need to bother about carrying the installation file of that game.
Just you should be careful about some matters. Many games need minimum system requirements in order to run properly. Most games need specific graphics card or specific versions of Direct X. If the PC you are connected to, does not have the minimum required graphics card or processor speed, leave the PC and try another one.

Also, If the PC you are connected to does not have the right version of Direct X or .Net, you will see an error on your device. To eliminate this error, simply install the latest version of Direct X or the appropriate version of .Net inside MojoPac.

- If you install MojoPac on a storage device, you can still use it as before.

- As you have to use username and password when you want to connect to your MojoPac-enabled device, nobody except you can access to your files and data. Also, when you connect to a Host PC, MojoPac provides a layer of isolation against viruses from the Host PC, so your MojoPac device is protected.

The Disadvantages of MojoPac:

- You have to connect your USB device to the host computer and you have to work via the device. So, it is not as fast as personal PC. Of course the speed is related to the speed of USB and the portable device. I used iPod and the delay was not much. The main delay happened when I copied files to iPod.

- You have to know that Mojopac supports which game or application. There are some bugs may happen even about the applications MojoPac support (see the list of Applications can be ran in mojoPac-enabled device). So, you should check the website regularly. (If you face any problem you can contact to Forum of site)

- You have to use it on the PC with windows XP and it doesn’t work with MAC and Linux.

- MojoPac for Vista is not ready yet. But it will come soon and MojoPac consumers will be notified and can get the update file freely. You can read about it more here.

I myself tried to install the program on my iPod. Well for me, first a problem happened. During the installation my ipod got unplugged. So, when I plugged it and again tried to install the software I found that the sign of iPod has changed to MojoPac. I opened it and I found a file of starting MojoPac. I clicked on it made everything ok and I could continue rest of installation without any problem.

Be aware that if you're using an iPod, make sure that you have chosen the "Manually manage music" option in your iTune, and that "Enable disk use" is checked off as well.
As you are going to carry your all information of your personal computer on a flash drive or iPod or…, as much as the storage is bigger, your limitation will be less.
If you are using a USB flash drive, you should go to the properties (my computeràright clickà Properties) in Policies tab, choose the “Optimize for performance” option.

Also, you need:

Connection:
USB 2.0 is required. USB 1.1 is too slow to provide an optimum Mojo experience for running applications, and therefore it is not supported.

Storage:
MojoPac can be installed on any USB 2.0 compliant storage device. For example: Any of iPod, Video iPod, iPod Nano and iPod mini. Latest Firmware recommended. Or High performance and top-tier USB external hard drives like Seagate, Western Digital, and Hitachi. Also you can use Top-tier USB Flash drives like Memorex, Sandisk, OCZ, Lexar.

Host PC Requirements:
Host PC is any Windows PC that you would like to connect your MojoPac device to in order to bring up your MojoPac PC.

OS Requirements:
Windows XP* (32-bit version ONLY), Home/Pro (sp1, sp2) Media Center Edition (2003, 2005) Tablet PC**
RAM: 256MB Minimum, 512MB recommended

So, now let us look at the processes of installing and using the MojoPac on your Portable storage device:

1- Create an account in the website. If you are not from USA, in state option just type NA. Also, you have to go to your email to activate your username and password.

2- There is a trial one on the website for testing and getting acquainted to this software program. This Trial is the latest version Of MojoPac (MojoPac1.0.5.0). It is a short file and you can easily download the 9.5 MB file in short time like maximum 10 minutes with slow internets.

If you want to buy it, MojoPac software is $49.99 for one license, which can be used to install MojoPac on one USB device for a single user. Additional licenses for the same user (to use on multiple USB devices) can be purchased for just $24.99 each, up to 3 licenses.

3- After downloading the file, start the installation. You need username and password here. If you have bought the production, enter the key, unless like me choose Activate 30-day trial version.

4- After finishing the activating, it will ask you a question about if you like to save your pictures, songs and document from your computer to the MojoPac enabled device. I accepted and a new box opened. Your main work with MojoPac starts from this step.

5- Then I chose one folder to add to my MojoPac device (Office 2003 installation file). After finishing the transferring, the box of “Welcome to MojoPac comes. Click on start MojoPac.

Now Program makes the virtual space like Windows XP, I really enjoyed when I saw it for the first time. Even like Windows you can right click on the monitor and change the desktop image. On the top of your screen you will see the Mojo Bar. There is a button for switching to the host computer.

If you want to copy more files or folders to you USB device you can do it in two ways:

- Switch to host computer. Go to "My Computer", and select the drive letter associated with your USB device. You can access the files and folders of your MojoPac from the Host PC view. You can then move files and folders back and forth.

- You can use the MojoPac Data Copy Wizard as well. Exit form your current MojoPac. You can apply the same Data Copy Wizard that you saw during the MojoPac installation from the login screen every time you start MojoPac (in the login screen, select the Data Copy button). This wizard can be used to copy files and folders from the PC you are connected to onto MojoPac.

I myself, copied winrar installation file to my iPod. I switched to MojoPac space and like Windows I could easily install it in Virtual Windows of MojoPac.

6- If any time you face any problem about use of this software in MojoPac space there is a useful” MojoPac Quick Start Guide” that has been written in very simple language and it is really helpful.

7- For exiting MojoPack, on the right bottom side of your desktop, right click on the MojoPac icon and choose the exit option. It will ask you to log off first. After logging off you can eject your portable storage device.

If you want to uninstall your MojoPac, you should know that ojoPac is like an Operating System for your USB storage, you can't uninstall an OS (same with Microsoft and other OS's), and you can only remove the OS.

For removing the MojoPac you have to delete two parts:
- Delete the "Program Files" folder. This includes the MojoPac directory, as well as folders associated with applications you installed on MojoPac.
- Delete the "Windows" folder, as well as "Autorun", and "Start" applications.

You should be aware that you must NOT delete the "Documents and Settings" if you wish to keep the data (files and folders) you had on that USB drive's My Documents folder or Desktop, etc.

I really liked MojoPac and I know that it will become very popular in the coming days. The sad part is that I am in Bangladesh and I cannot buy MojoPac from here as there is no way I can send the money for buying MojoPac from my country. So, I have to remain satisfied with using just 30 days.

Hmm... definately a program that, with serious work and no squishing from big guys like Microsoft... could be a huge hit with both students, gamers, and corporates who want to take their work with them.

Incidentally, those of you who have Vista... take heart, there's a potential way to still use this program. A little-known fact about Vista is, Vista has a compatibility function that you can selectively activate by right-clicking on any software exe file and going into Properties. Simply tell the computer to run MojoPac under Windows XP emulation, and the program SHOULD run the same way it would under XP, thinking that it's running under the XP operating system even though it's actually Vista your pc is using.

Haven't got Vista yet myself, but three independant sources (QVC, Vista for Dummies, AND after much prodding from them, Microsoft themselves!), all confirmed it so that should be the answer in case anyone was wondering.

In the meantime. I'm just struggling to decide which portable storage device I WANT to use MojoPac on! Hmmm... decisions, decisions!
