Dell has named its first Montevina / Centrino 2 class laptops “Essential Series” or Latitude E-series laptops. Latitude E series laptops include E6000 and E5000 and E4000-series (E6500, E6400, E5500, E5400, E4300, E4200, E5500a and E5400a). In previous entry I mentioned the specs and highlight features of E4000-series laptops. This time the highlight features and specs of E6000 and E5000- series have been leaked by Engadget. These two E6000 and E5000 (including the AMD-based laptops) series laptops will hit market in June.
The 15.4" E6500 and 14.1" E6400 models will be the successors of Dell's Latitude D830 and D630, respectively. Also, 15.4" E5500 and 14.1" E5400 laptops will replace low-end tradition of Dell's Latitude D531 and D530 laptops, respectively.
The Highlight features of E6500 laptop includes:
- Three display options such as LED backlighting (WXGA), 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, or WUXGA or WXGA LCD displays
-optional discrete NVIDIA graphics and DisplayPort out
-Intel turbo memory 2.0
-Hard drive, Hybrid, and
-Free fall sensors on all 7200 rpm drives
- UWB (Ultra-wide band), Bluetooth 2.1, mobile broadband connectivities
-Integrated GPS
-Plenty of security options including finger print reader, TPM 1.2, smart card reader and contact-less smart cards and encrypted hard disks
-New 84WHr slice batteries for "all day" computing
-Optional camera and mic
-Back-lit keyboard option

E6500 features 4USB ports, FireWire, VGA, RJ-11 (optional), RJ-45, and audio, PCMCIA and Express card, 5-in-1 media card reader, Wireless LAN, 2 speakers, DVD burner, standard options up to 250GB HDD and up to 8GB DDR2 of RAM memory.
This laptop weighs only 5.1lbs (2.3kg).
E5500 and E5400 have almost the same features. Their differences come to size of displays and options for displays (There is no optional LED back-lit display for these two laptops) and their weights.
Latitude E5500 provides the following optional displays:
15.4" wide aspect WXGA or 15.4" wide aspect WXGA+ TrueLife
While E5400 provides the following options for its display:
14.1" wide aspect WXGA or WXGA+
The Highlight features of E5500 and E5400 laptops include:

The two AMD-based E5500/a and E5400/a will come for AMD laptop enthusiasts. These two laptops will use next generation AMD “Sempron” chips and next-gen ATI graphics card. 15.4" E5500/a weighs 6lbs while 14.1" E5400/a weighs 5.2 lbs. The tow laptops provide e-family docking and adaptors.
