List of the Current and Upcoming Low-Cost Laptops in the Market in 2008

This year from April, the market of Low-Cost laptops will face many new various low-cost laptops from different vendors with different prices and features. So, I think that having a list of these laptops can help the consumers who want to have one of these portable laptops as their secondary system.

Here is a list of the low-cost laptops that have come or will come to the market so far:

1- ECS G10IL sub notebook

2- Medion Akoya mini laptop: 10" laptop for 399 EUR or $638 with Atom processor 1GB of RAM standard, an HDD hard drive, two USB ports (one less than Eee PC 900), a SD memory card slot but Eee PC 900 comes with SD / MMC (SDHC Support)), VGA out, Wi-Fi and a 1.3 megapixel webcam.

3- Sub-$300 Gecko

4-Acer low-cost laptops (the 8.9-inch Aspire and 12.1-inch Slim Gemstone Aspire pricing for $300-$450)

5-MSI Wind PC with Diamondville ( starting from $ 400 USD) Wind PC coming to the U.S. Market incorporates bigger display of 10-inches featuring LED backlight, Atom Processor at 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM, 80GB HDD, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and very attractive starting price of $400. Wind PC will be available with 8.9-inches display ,as well.

6- Eee PC 900 ($550) With Multi-finger trackpad and 8.9-inches display.

7- Eee PC 901: 5.9-in Eee PC 901 901 is a new model from the second-generation Eee PC family that comes with Atom processor, probably with the same 1.6GHz clock speed that is used in wind PC.upcoming 8.9-in Eee PC 901 is merely coming with Bluetooth and it will not provide WiMAX.

14-Packard Bell EasyNote XS / Nanobook

15-Gigabyte M912 Low-cost PC:
GigaByte M912 will be released at the beginning of June while sporting Intel Atom processor and 8.9" displauy. So, Gigabyte has targeted Eee PC 900 in the market.The source has mentioned that this mini laptop will have Bluetooth too. This laptop will run either Linux or Windows XP OS.

16-OLPC

17- OLPC XO 2.0: OLPC XO Generation 2.0 or OLPC XO 2.0 is a kind of Tablet PC. It comes with two touch-sensitive displays. The displays are dual indoor-and-sunlight displays. the expense of XO 2.0 will be only $75.

18-Intel Classmate

19- 2go PC or CLassmate 2:2go PC with its 9-inches display, 512 MB memory, a 30 GB HDD has been made for Elementary and Middle School students.although it comes with bigger screen than Eee PC, it comes with more cramp keyboard than Eee PC has.This mini laptop will be available for sale through Amazon.com soon with prices ranging from $300 to $500.

22- Jisus Laptop: 8.9" laptop with led backlight display and 1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, 4GB SSD for 300 EUR

23- Dell 500 mini laptop: 8.9" budget laptop, manufacturing in India for $600 (starting at Rs 24,500)

24- Fukato: an 8" German low-cost laptop with 500MHz AMD Geode LX processor, 512 MB of RAM memory, and 20GB HDD and Linux-based OS for 279 EUR or $440

25- Airis Kira 100: is a European bother of Thai Gecko low-cost laptop for 299EUR. It comes with Via C7M ULV CPU clocked at 1.0 GHz, 512MB of RAM and 7-in 800 x 480 pixel display and Linpus OS

26- Deep Blue H1: This 7-inches laptop is hitting the market of Philippines for the price of $405 UDS (Php 16,995). However, it comes with some features better than 7" Eee PC. Deep Blue H1 is powered by VIA Esther 1.0 GHz, 1GB DDR2 of Ram memory (double than the Ram amount of Eee PC), and 40GB Mobile HDD.

27-Kohjinsha SR:
Kohjinsha SR8KPO6S or Kohjinsha SR comes with Intel "Stealey" 800MHz, Pentium M-based A110 processor, 1GB of 400MHz DDR2 DRAM memory, 7" LED backlight touch screen display (1024 x 600 resolution), 60GB Hard drive and built-in double-layer DVD+R and DVD-R media!

28- Dell 500 mini laptop: 8.9" budget laptop, manufacturing in India for $600 (starting at Rs 24,500)

29- CTL IL1PC: 7-in mini laptop with 4GB SSD hard drive, 1.0GHz VIA C7-M processor and 1GB memory and running XP Home Edition.

30- OpenBook Mini-Note: this a 8.9" mini laptop is powered by with one of C7-M processors (from1.0GHz to 1.6GHz), a variety of HDD or Solid State Drive options, optional Bluetooth and WiMAX, and HSDPA, or EV-DO, and 3 USB ports etc.

31- Inventec V10 Netbook: 10" mini laptop pricing at $230, 1GHz VIA C3 CPU, 20GB HHD and 128MB of RAM and VGA port; 2 USB 2.0 ports.
