Hardware, Laptop and Laptop Accessory News Round up on July 11th

Today I wandered around the web and I think the following news items are nice to read.

They are about availability of gigabyte M912 in Germany, unveiling First 1.5TB desktop drive, a wireless finger mouse for travelers, Eee PC 701 4G for less than 1$USD and so on.


1- Gigabyte M912 Mini Tablet Available for Purchase in Germany but Shipment in Mid-August:

Now four configurations of Gigabyte M912 Mini Tablet are available for order in Germany while it will take more time for this mini tablet to pop up in USA.

The configurations come with 1.6 GHz CPU and 160GB hard drive. They include:

Windows Vista Home Basic, 1 GB Ram, 519 €

Windows Vista Home Basic, 2 GB of RAM, 569 €

Without OS, 1GB Ram, 459 €

Without OS, 2 GB of RAM, 509 €

2- World's First 1.5TB desktop drive by Seagate Unvailed:

The 3.5-in Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB is the first 1.5TB desktop hard drive and the eleventh generation of Seagate's flagship drive for desktop PCs. This hard disk uses a Serial ATA 3Gbit/sec and delivers data rate of up to 120MB/sec. Seagate will start shipment of this hard drive form next month.


3- Wireless Finger Mouse: a Good Offer for Regular Travelers:



Just connect the mouse to your finger and while typing on keyboard you can easily use this wireless finger mouse. “The finger mouse makes use of 2.4GHz radio frequency technology and offers 1000dpi resolution, and rechargeable lithium-ion battery.”

4- AT&T Provides the Fastest 3G network in USA!

AT&T announced yesterday that it offered the fastest 3G network by a large margin in USA. “The claim was made based on a variety of tests conducted by leading third-party researchers, who tested the throughput speed and overall performance by downloading and using multiple applications and files at a time”. 5- Samsung multi-level cell (MLC) 128GB and 64GB SSDs go for Mass Production:

The new Samsung SSDs improve in lifespan up to 4-5 years (20 times improvement). Also, they come with insignificant power consumption:

“According to Samsung the new MLC SSDs are capable of providing read speeds of 90MB/s and write speeds of 70MB/s -- performance on par with SSDs using single-level cell technology. The difference is that SSDs built on the MLC technology offer about a 20 times improvement in the typical 4-5 year lifespan of a PC hard drive. Power consumption is another big feature of the MLC SSDs with requirements for 0.2 watts in standby and 0.5 watts in active mode”.


6- Buy Eee PC 701 4G for less than $1 US in the U.S.!

Many times we talked about the cheapest laptop in the market. First OLPC claimed to be the cheapest and then Asus Eee PC came to the market.

But, you are able to buy the cheapest laptop by only paying less than 1$USD in Japan now!

Yeah, in Japan by paying only about 100 yen you can get the first-gen Eee PC “Eee PC 701 4G”. Well, there is one term for getting this laptop. You have to sign up for wireless data plan $30 to $65 per month. Well, it is not bad deal, is it?
