Small system builders will get Windows 7 more than a week earlier

Though the official launch date of Windows 7 is October 13, 2009, Microsoft is allowing small system builders to sell Windows 7 from October 13, 2009. Puget Systems, a custom PC seller, received written permission from Microsoft to install Windows 7 in their new machines. Jon Bach, President, Puget Systems, said:

"For us [system builders], we can buy the OEM editions of Windows 7, which should be hitting distributors no later than Oct. 12, and put them in the hands of our customers on Oct. 13 at the latest…..We have a long line of customers who are waiting for Windows 7,…

Puget Systems builds high-end customer PC for gamers and post-production video editing shops. Bach is happy with the launching time of the Windows 7. In August, his company saw a sales growth of 30% compared to July. The sales team of the company started to take informal orders and till date, fifty orders have been placed. Puget Systems will also start a “formal pre-order promotion” starting from September 25, 2009. Under the promotion it will offer customers to place orders for early delivery of Windows 7 installed computers.
