Google netbook is coming your way: Interested?

After Google Nexus One Phone, it is time for Google branded netbook. Yes, Google is now in the process of producing its own brand of netbooks that will obviously run on Google Chrome OS. News reports are saying that the device will hit the stores in the holiday season of 2010. TechCrunch reports:

Google has said from the beginning that they plan on working with select manufacturers to ensure a good Chrome OS experience for users when devices first hit the market next year. From an early FAQ: “The Google Chrome OS team is currently working with a number of technology companies to design and build devices that deliver an extraordinary end user experience. Among others, these companies include Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba.”

The TechCrunch report also said that in order to avoid confusion or disagreement, Google is closely working with one particular manufacturer. Since Google itself is a major search engine company, there is a possibility it might subsidize the device with advertising.

The way Google is expanding its hardware line led many to think that the search engine giant pretty soon would open up its own hardware stores. Tech specialists are anticipating that the netbook will run on Nvidia Tegra graphics chip that are more powerful than ARM chips. One thing is for sure that the device will cost less compared to other devices in the market because the Chrome OS is free and so are Google Apps.
