Another iPhone 3.1 rumor just came out from MacRumors.com. This time, Pandav, Inc. an iPhone development firm based in San Francisco Bay Area, informed MacRumors of an unreleased iPhone in their “app’s analytics.” Pandav Inc. is the developer of iBART, a public transportation guide for the
PinchMedia who provides the analytics for the application breaks down customer usage including what specific devices are being used. This list of devices is reported to developers using internal device identification numbers assigned by Apple. In this case, "iPhone3,1" was first spotted in Pandav's usage logs in November. This "iPhone3,1" identifier does not match up with any shipping iPhones. The last iPhone released to the public was the iPhone 3GS which carries the identification string "iPhone2,1".
Rumors of the iPhone 3.1 first surfaced in August 2009 through iPhone firmware files. This was not something very unexpected because Apple started testing the Apple iPhone 3GS eight months prior to its launch in October 2008. The testing was based around San Francisco Bay Area.
It is believed that the next generation iPhone will sport a multi-core processor and compatible with Verizon’s network.
