Apple showed iPad commercial at the 82nd Academy Awards ceremony

The much talked about Apple iPad is coming to the market in April. Prior to that, the company showed the first Apple iPad commercial during the 82nd Academy Awards ceremony. The commercial was very simple. It showed a person using an Apple iPad by putting on his lap. The commercial briefly showed the various functions an Apple iPad can perform.


This is not the first time, Apple showed ads for its products during a high profile TV show. In 1984, Apple unveiled the Macintosh personal computer during the Super Bowl XVIII. The company also showed iPhone ads during Oscar ceremonies in the past. The new commercial had been posted on YouTube. You can also look at it here.


The 82nd Academy Awards ceremony organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took place on March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. ABC Channel broadcasted the show. Famous Hollywood actors, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin hosted the show.


The Apple iPad was unveiled at an event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco on January 27, 2010. The device sports a 9.7 inch screen. It would hit the market on April 3, 2010 but Apple would start taking pre-orders starting from March 12, 2010. The device will be released in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K. in late April.
