Apple might unveil its white colored iPhone 4 in the September 1, 2010 event. It is not entirely out of question because the holiday season is closing in and Apple would be able to create some hype but if we look at the tradition of Apple then there is hardly any reason to believe that Apple would talk about its iPhone because the summer events mainly focused on music devices.
Another set of rumors also came up that Apple would roll out its popular handset on another carrier aside from AT&T. Apple Insider reported that the Cupertino-based firm is in talks with Verizon and hammering out a deal.
Kaufman Brothers analyst, Shaw Wu, in a note, said that Apple is looking forward to tie up with another carrier and Verizon may not be its first choice. He said T-Mobile and Sprint are possible targets of Apple. He said, “From our checks with industry and supply chain sources and a recent SEC 10-Q filing by AT&T mentioning that exclusivity with "a number of attractive handsets" could end, we have conviction that the iPhone could likely finally be at another carrier besides AT&T here in the U.S. in 2011 and potentially at Verizon in 2011 or 2012... We believe the argument for AAPL to pursue Verizon sooner than later is to address the growing presence of Android.”
According to Don Reisinger, if Apple signs up with Verizon then many Verizon customers would flock to the stores for the phone but it would steal away many AT&T customers as well and this is something Apple would not want to see. If Apple signs up with another carrier then it would have to make sure that its strong relationship with AT&T continues.
