Samsung Galaxy S series reached one million sales in the U.S

The August 29, 2010, is a big day for Samsung for its Galaxy S series smart phone reached one million sales. This is big achievement for Samsung. The company is now in second position in the Android based smartphone market in the U.S. where Motorola and HTC are jointly dominating the top spot.

On the occasion, Dale Sohn, President, Samsung Mobile, issued a statement where he said, "I am proud of the instant success of the Galaxy S line up and I am very pleased to announce that because of the support of our carrier partners and loyal customers, we have shipped one million Galaxy S devices in the U.S. market. Samsung Mobile looks forward to sharing additional Galaxy S milestones in the future."

Currently, in the U.S. T-Mobile and AT&T offers Galaxy S phone. AT&T sells the phone under the name Galaxy S Captivate while T-Mobile sells as Galaxy S Vibrant. The Android based smartphone had been launched in July 2010. Sprint and Verizon would also get their version of Galaxy S phones. It will be rolled out as Epic 4G on Sprint while Fascinate on Verizon. Two other carriers U.S. Cellular and Cellular South would also being selling the from this fall.

The Galaxy S series phones are run by Android OS 2.1. and it would be further upgraded to Android 2.2 Froyo by the end of 2010. So, this is also a big achievement for Android. The popularity of Samsung Galaxy S phones reveals the fact that Android-based phones are catching up with smartphone buyers.
