Can Google Chrome OS generate new Interest about Netbooks among Consumers?

There have been mixed signals about the arrival of Google Chrome from Google top officials. Someone said that it would take another few months while another top official said that a Chrome notbook may come to the market in the next few weeks.
Anyway, it is clear that Google Chrome OS will first come at a netbook not in any desktop or even in a laptop. There is even no indication that Chrome OS will come in a tablet PC or in a smartphone or even in the next one year. Anyway, it is perhaps a bit late for Google to enter into a market which is having its downside. When iPad was launched then it was thought that it would be a netbook killer and after ten months, it seems that there is some truth in this fear. Interest about netbook is decreasing and the companies are not releasing that many netbooks. So, Google is entering into this market with its Chrome OS at a perhaps some bad time.
Of course, Google will have to do something exceptional in order to regenerate interest among netbooks among the consumers. One factor always can be attractive to consumers is the matter of price. If Google can give a Chrome OS run netbook within $200 then naturally it will attract many consumers. However, I feel that if the price is nearly $300 then not too many people will be interested about it because then they can buy an iPad from Apple for just $499.
Apple is going to introduce iPad version 2 in the next few months and at that time there is a good and very strong possibility that the price of the original iPad or version 1 will decrease significantly. I will not be shocked if the price of original iPad falls down to $399 or $350. So, we have to wait for another few months to see whether Chrome OS can really make any major impact in the interest about netbooks among consumers.
