RIM has come forward and issued a statement that any rumor about a possible delay of its PlayBook tablet is unfounded. The company stated that there was no issue with battery life and there would be no delay with the product coming to the market.
RIM said to a website:
“Any testing or observation of battery life to date by anyone outside of RIM would have been performed using pre-beta units that were built without power management implemented. RIM is on track with its schedule to optimize the BlackBerry PlayBook’s battery life and looks forward to providing customers with a professional grade tablet that offers superior performance with comparable battery life.”
We feel that RIM has been rather slow in entering the tablet device market. Apple could take the stage by storm with its iPad and until the arrival of Samsung Galaxy Tab, Apple had almost monopoly in this field. At CES 2011, we are going to see a number of new tablet devices notably Asus Eee Pad. So, RIM is really late and I wonder if PlayBook would be able to generate any substantial interest among consumers who would perhaps think of the second versions of iPad and Galaxy Tab.
