Picture of a RadioShack promo material revealed that HTC EVO Shift 4G will be launched on Sprint for $149.99 with “new upgrade or two-year agreement on an Everything plan with data and premium data add-on.” The unlocked version is priced at $449. The phone will be launched on January 9, 2011.
The HTC EVO Shift 4G is a 4G WiMAX smartphone with 3.6 inch display with zoom capability and full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The phone runs on an 800 MHz processor just like the T-Mobile G2 and it would run on Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread. It also has a WiMAX radio that would work with Sprint 4G WiMax. News reports further say that the phone might be showcased at the upcoming CES 2011.
It has not been confirmed if the phone would come with a front-facing camera or not. However, omission of a camera would make many users unhappy because they would expect to do video chatting over a high speed network.
