Specs of BlackBerry Dakota, the upcoming hybrid phone (physical keyboard and touchscreen) of RIM has been leaked on Internet. It was first reported by Boy Genius Report.
The phone will be Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and Tri-band UMTS. It will have a thickness of 10.5mm and a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen with VGA 640X480 resolution. Compared to the 3.2-inch diagonal display of the BlackBerry torch, it is quite smaller but offers same resolution. However, images on Dakota’s screen would look sharper.
It will also have a 5 megapixel camera with HD video recording, flash and image stabilization. The phone will have 4GB memory and 768GB RAM. Wireless features include Wi-Fi b/g/n on 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. The device would also serve as a 3G mobile hotspot.
Other features include- Micro USB port, Bluetooth, Near Field Communication (NFC), magnetometer, accelerometer, and proximity sensor. The phone will come with BlackBerry OS 6.1. RIM recently launched its developer tools for BlackBerry 6.1
Photos of BlackBerry Dakota surfaced back in early 2010. It is the first BlackBerry phones to sport NFC. Another important thing about the BlackBerry Dakota is that shuns the trackball. The keyboard design resembles with that of the 9700.
