T-Mobile will launch Samsung Galaxy S and Sidekick supporting 4G HSPA+

T-Mobile is going to launch a new Sidekick messenger phone supporting its 4G HSPA+ network and a new Samsung Galaxy S 4G aka Vibrant 4G smartphone.

On January 20, 2010, at an event, Philipp Humm, CEO, T-Mobile said that his company is going to launch a 4G version of its Sidekick phones. The new Sidekick 4G would run on Android OS. He did not give out further details but it is believed that the Sidekick will come with the Gingerbread.

The T-Mobile Sidekick, earlier known as Danger Hiptop, was produced by Danger Inc. In 2008, Danger Inc. was acquired by Microsoft. The Sidekick has a tumultuous history. In 2009, after the data loss incident in October, T-Mobile temporarily stopped selling the phone. Then in July 2010, the carrier stopped selling the phone. However, at the same month, news of a newly developed Sidekick supporting its HSPA+ network came up.

T-Mobile will launch 25 4G supporting products in the market in 2011. It would launch Dell Streak 7, T-Mobile G-Slate tablet PC with Android Honeycomb, Sidekick and a new laptop data stick with a peak download speed of 42Mbps in the first six months.

The Samsung Galaxy S 4G will be announced at the upcoming MWC. Samsung said that it is going to make major announcement at a press conference on February 13, 2010.
