On January 11, 2011, Verizon unveiled Verizon iPhone 4 which will be launched on February 11, 2011. Here is a screen shot of the EasyPay “Check Upgrade Eligibility.”
The new Verizon iPhone 4 would support Verizon 3G CDMA network and unlike the AT&T’s 3G GSM network, Verizon’s CDMA network would not support simultaneous voice and data transmission. However, Verizon iPhone 4 can be used as a Wi-Fi hotspot supporting up to five devices.
At the press conference, Verizon officials said that its calling plans would remain the same for Verizon iPhone 4 users. However, Verizon did not give out details of its data plans for its existing subscribers and new iPhone subscribers.
With the availability of iPhone on Verizon, a heated debate has started if iPhone’s availability would affect Google Android based handsets. According to MSNBC’s Rick Aristotle Munarriz, Google Android does not need to worry about Apple because Google Android is backed by top handset producers like Samsung, LG and Motorola
and there are lots of room for growth for both parties.
