On February 23, 2011, Apple sent out official invitations to media people with image containing an iOS calendar icon with the date March 2, 2011 being peeled away revealing an iPad. Below is a message saying “Come see what 2011 will be the year.”
The event would take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco where Apple unveiled its first Apple iPad in 2010.
The new iPad will be smaller and lighter than the first generation iPad and will have a front facing camera to support FaceTime feature. It will have Imagination Technologies' newer SGX543 graphics and video core processor.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst, Concord Securities, said that Foxconn will build some where between 4.5 million and 5 million iPad 2 units in the first quarter of 2011 followed by an additional 3million to 4 million units in April. Foxconn manufactures iPad for Apple and Concord Securities closely watches Foxconn.
