Motorola Xoom tablet is all set to be released on 24 February and this first tablet running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS will be available at Verizon and Best Buy stores in the US. This 10.1-inch tablet PC is also thought to be the first serious competitor for Apple iPad.
However, Apple is plotting a two-way attack on its competitor. First, it would release the much talked-about 11-inch MacBook Air ultraportable on the same day Xoom would be available on the stores. Then Apple is going to unveil iPad2 on 2nd of March at San Francisco.
Some may question how Apple’s MacBook Air could be a threat for Xoom tablet. Well, both the devices are ultraportable and mobile, and users can comfortably carry them while travelling and both come in similar price range. So, it seems users might intend to compare between MacBook Air and Xoom before spending their money.
Now, when it comes to a comparison between MacBook Air and Xoom, it seems MacBook Air may narrowly come out as winner given the features available on both devices. Xoom users may enjoy front and rear camera as well as 4G LTE, but MacBook Air also has its strong points to defeat the Motorola device.
MacBook Air users can feel the desktop experience with a physical keyboard coming with it. Moreover, they can also download apps from Apple’s app store.
Moreover, reports have it in the media that Apple is going to unveil iPad2 next week. So, it seems people would wait to know what iPad is offering before spending their money on Xoom. Overall, it seems to be Apple’s two-way attack on Motorola Xoom.
