Placecast joins AT&T Advanced Ad Solutions and rolls out ShapAlerts in the U.S.

On February 28, 2011, AT&T Advanced Ad solutions, in collaboration with Placecast, launched ShopAlerts on AT&T Network. Under this new service, a person passing through a shop that is having some sales offers will get a mobile alert.

Aside from containing information about special offers, the messages will contain information about weather, traffic, and details of the shopping area to further encourage the buyer.

This new service will be rolled out in four markets in the U.S.- New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. These locations have been chose for they are highly populated areas making them ideal for location based ad services. Seven companies- HP, Kmart, JetBlue, SC Johnson, Kibbles 'n Bits ('n Bits 'n Bits), Nature's Recipe, and the "got milk?" partnered with AT&T.

AT&T is further planning to launch the service all over the U.S in summer in order to get more partners into the service.

Aside from AT&T Placecast also partnered with European carrier O2 in October 2010.
