Windows Phone 7 has now a collection of 10,000 apps. This is a great accomplishment for any OS and it has been achieved in a matter of four and a half months- faster than Android Marketplace and iTunes App Store.
Windows Phone 7 app store hit 5,000 marks right before the New Year and it is continuing to add apps at a very fast pace.
On March 10, 2011, Microsoft announced that it would delay its next update till late March to avoid the problems it faced with its first update. The company launched its first Windows Phone 7 update in late February. It then stopped the updates for Samsung phones after a glitch was found. In a blog post, Eric Hautala, General Manager, customer experience engineering, said,
"I believe it's important that we learn all we can from the February update. So I've decided to take some extra time to ensure the update process meets our standards, your standards, and the standards of our partners,"
He then said that Microsoft pushed its copy-and-paste update to the latter half of March. He also said that majority of the updates had been successful but the company is not happy with the problems it faced and is studying its current update process so that it can avoid such problems in future.
